TEAM INTELLIGENCE
Team Intelligence… Acting in COMMUNITY
FutureSYNC International’s TEAM INTELLIGENCE model decodes the transformational stages of moving from “GROUP-NORMS”, through “PROFESSIONAL-NORMS”, to the final destination of “TEAM-NORMS”, where professionals work together in CONCERT and COMMUNITY.
Teams that function in CONCERT and COMMUNITY remain constant, regardless of the mood or moment. Members are seasoned practitioners of intentional communications, robust dialogue, and equality of contribution, and they demonstrate finely-honed, emotion-detecting skills.
FACTS:
- Individual EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE is simply not enough to vulcanize people together in the COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE required for a HIGH-FUNCTIONING TEAM.
- SMART PEOPLE can make poorly-baked decisions and often leave those decisions in place because they enjoyed group endorsement.
- Dysfunctional groups take two steps back for every one step forward—resulting in IMMEASURABLE WASTE!
- GROUP THINKING is often mistaken for critical thinking.
High performing teams demonstrate MATURITY and PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY with intent.
This session will explore the four domains of team intelligence to establish meaningful and strategic leadership team agreements. Participants will:
- Examine the nature of assumptive team dynamics versus intentionally engineered team norms, standards, and behaviors.
- Identify the team's current maturation point on the High-Performance Curve.
- Explore what's working, not working, and missing regarding team communications, engagement, and decision elegance.
- Craft intensely clear team agreements.
The TEAM CHARTER: An Agreement for EXCELLENCE!
A team charter is a document that is developed in a group setting that clarifies team direction while establishing boundaries. It is developed early during the forming of the team.
The team charter has two purposes. First, it serves as a source for the team members to design the focus and direction of the team. Second, it educates others (e.g., the organizational leaders and other work groups), by exhibiting the direction of the team.
The charter:
- Serves as a contract between the team members.
- Defines objectives and intent of the team, assuring a common objective among team members.
- Keeps the team focused by allowing the team to determine if its activity is relevant and on-track or off on a tangent.
- Defines the scope of the team.
